Homework

Homework is an important element of your child’s education, as it consolidates learning and provides opportunity for research and independent study. At The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College, homework completion is monitored at various levels throughout the school, with rewards, and sanctions, issued as appropriate.

Ks3 Students

Your child will receive weekly homework for the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. In addition, your child may also receive shorter homework activities which relate to topics being studied in class.

GCSE Students

Students who are studying towards their GCSEs will receive weekly homework for the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. In addition, they will receive regular homework from their GCSE option subjects. All information and resources relating to the projects will also be uploaded online so it can be accessed by students and parents.

Google Classroom

All homework will be issued via Google Classrooms or given out in class as booklets or sheets to complete. Students will have their own login to Google Classroom and it is important that students check regularly, as teachers will post optional reading activities such as interesting news articles or research studies linked to the topic being studied.

Homework Support

Subject teachers are the first port of call if your child needs clarification on the task or help completing this.  The school also runs a homework club each day in the Hub, and the library is also open each lunchtime for students to access copies of school textbooks or to borrow books linked to the set homework.
