OptionsThe curriculum in Years 7 and 8 is extended into Year 9 with the selection of 4 option subjects.
The option subjects run alongside the core subjects of maths, English Language, English Literature, PE, Science and PSHE/RE and the ‘Learning 4 Life’ curriculum of History, Geography, Technology and Computing. In Year 9, all students also complete either the Bronze Arts Award in Art or the Performing Arts, or the Adventure Youth Service Challenge Award.
In Year 9, students select 4 option subjects to study from Year 10. The range of options is extensive and aims to meet the interests and academic demands of all students, with a wide range of GCSEs and vocational courses.
The EBacc route is available to 100% of students (the study of a Modern Foreign Language, History or Geography and 2 Science qualifications/ Computer Science) and as a Performing Arts College we offer discrete options in Dance, Drama, Music and Music Technology
For students wishing to pursue a highly academic pathway, they are able to study the separate sciences of Chemistry, Biology and Physics. All students can study History, Geography and a Modern Foreign Language.
For students with an aptitude for maths, we offer GCSE Statistics and Computer Science. For students with an interest in sport, GCSE PE or the Technical Award in Sport Studies offers a choice to suit students’preferred learning styles.
In years 10 and 11, all students follow the core curriculum of maths, English Language, English Literature, PE, Science and PSHE/RE alongside their 4 chosen option subjects.
