At Avon Valley School, we believe the Performing Arts are a powerful way to nurture ambition.  Performing Arts at Avon Valley is highly regarded, offering students a wealth of opportunities to pursue their passions, which is why so many students are excited to join us.

Since moving into our new building in 2007, we have successfully maintained our Performing Arts status. Our Performing Arts faculty are an incredibly impassioned and motivated team that have trained at some of the country’s best institutions. The years of training that each individual teacher has undertaken leave them with a wealth of knowledge and professional experience to pass on to students.

Each of the disciplines, Dance, Drama and Music, strive to ensure that students develop creativity and make good academic progress through the provision of consistently enjoyable and interesting lessons.

We truly believe that performing arts are fundamental within the school curriculum. It’s not just about acting, dancing or singing; it’s about helping young people discover their talents and build a strong sense of self-belief, fostering the respect needed for both personal growth and teamwork. This confidence often carries over into their other subjects, helping them develop a more positive and focused approach to all their learning.

All students study Music, Drama and Dance in Years 7, 8 and 9. All the performing arts subjects are very popular amongst the students and the numbers electing to study music, dance and drama in Years 10 and 11 remains consistently high. Additionally, there are a number of extra-curricular clubs available for students who would like to develop their abilities further.

Our dedicated team is passionate about what we do; going above and beyond to provide a supportive and caring environment, ensuring every young person can achieve their aspirations. With all the different courses we offer, your child will have a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the performing arts to the fullest.

Inspiring Creativity On Stage and Beyond

Although we work incredibly hard with students within a classroom context, staff also appreciate the need for students to experience Performing Arts in a variety of other contexts. In recent years a number of trips have been organised including residential trips to London where students have experienced West End shows and taken part in workshops at Pineapple Dance Studios. There are also frequent visits to Birmingham to view a variety of shows such as Mary Poppins, Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker or The National Theatre production of One Man, Two Guvnors. We have also been able to collaborate with Warwick Arts Centre to showcase the talents of our male dancers. These dance shows have been incredibly popular and have been attended by audiences from all across the West Midlands.

These experiences allow our students to gain real-world insight and develop a deeper appreciation for the arts.
